st June: Not a sunny start to the month like May, but never mind - shots of a pair of 37s on ECS, and 57s on Pendo drags at Washwood Heath.
nd June: Another trip to Washwood Heath for those Fastline coal trains - now there are two diagrams in operation, so double the fun!
th June: An early to morning trip to Washwood Heath to catch the loaded Daw Mill-Ratcliffe Fastline coal.
th June: A trip after work to... guess where? Yep Washwood Heath! I'm going to go somewhere else this month - I promise!
th June: At some ungodly hour, before I was due to start work, The Northern Belle was due to run up the Cross City line in Birmingham heading towards Derby. Decided to make an effort for this rare loco-haulage! After work went to you-know-where for you-know-what...
th June: I went to Tamworth today - I know it's a hole, but at least it makes a change to WWH! A variety of shots were had, including 56311 on 4O90, 37s on a test train, the NMT HST, and that coal!
th June: It started so well - went with Lucky Matt to WWH for you-know-what, then Lea Marston for 6M11 - photted the NMT HST, and a couple of freight, then found 6M11 had gone via Whitacre. Arse. Never mind though, 4Z87 was heading our way en route to Long Marston with a pair of GB 66s at the sharp end... We spied a shot in a field, and off we trotted - and then we met the KKK - the Kingsbury Killer... erm... Kows! Won't say how we got away - suffice to say it was totally legal and legit, honest Guv! After that, a breif visit to Elford, followed by a trip to Penkridge. Must eat more beef in future...
th June: Took a trip to York for the naming of 60040. No cows anywhere in sight, luckily!
st June: A trip from Crewe to Paignton, on board Spitfire Railtours' 'The Paignton Pudden', hauled by 37606 and 37423. Hellfire!
th June: Went to Kidderminster to phot 50049 hauling a pair of 'Slugs' retunring from Merehead to the Severn Valley Railway.
th June: Upon hearing 37401 was en route to Washwood Heath Cemex, I thought it would be rude not to drag myself out of bed and try and get there first. Made it, and saw the inbound light engine working. Afterwards I met up with the Freightmaster bunch at Stafford for an overnight session.
th June: Moved on to Water Orton with the FM crew, where the highlight of the day was surely 40145 towing a pair of 37/9 slugs from Kidderminster to Bury, via Butterley. Cheers for a great couple of days lads :)
th June: To finish off the month, paid a visit to London Midland's open day at Tyseley depot, held to celebrate the depot's centenary.
